we are
The Pier Directors

It began as many things do on Gabriola, a conversation with friends gathered around a campfire. The spark of an idea met with an exciting opportunity. Someone said there was an interesting empty space adjacent to the former Silva Bay Pub. "Could we turn it into a Gallery?" It turns out that a few motivated artists plus a space can become something special, a gallery run by artists for artists. Since our doors opened in 2010, we've survived a fire, a flood and a pandemic. We have grown to over 23 local creators and continue to grow and evolve as we simultaneously keep things simple.

Melinda Wilde
President & Director
Melinda WIlde has been sitting as Gallery President since 2021.
She never knew she would be this good at herding cats. Organizing the shift schedule for over 25 artists is what makes the gallery possible.

Tony Grove
Director & Handyman
Tony Grove is a Boat Builder and painter and one of the original founders of the Pier Gallery.
As well as painting beautiful boats, his boat building skills are regularly put to
use as the Gallery handyman.

Zena Rogak
Treasurer & Director
Zena is one of the Galley founders and does the very necessary and challenging work of Gallery Treasurer.
While we have become slightly more tech savvy over the years we still use pen and paper. Somehow Zena keeps the books balanced.

Pat Rokosh
Director
Pat Rokosh brings the vibe and the vision.
Her experience in previous management positions helps with keeping us rooted in Island values while adapting to changing technology and markets.

Lorna Potts
Director
Lorna is responsible for the amazing staging of the Pier Gallery art and creations.
She works year round to manage the physical space and to make sure things run smoothly in general.
